This year’s KickStarters and Bright Young Gems took part in a packed day of talks and workshops at the Goldsmiths’ Centre on June 14.
Every year, the team at IJL host informative sessions designed to get each of our emerging design talents ready to exhibit at IJL, including top advice on display, visual merchandising, PR, marketing and pricing.
This year, we took things up a notch with a daytime event at the prestigious Goldsmiths’ Centre in London, following by an evening event #IJLCurated.

This buzzing cocktail party welcomed a host of media friends, including top bloggers, journalists, influencers and B2B journalists. Some of the guests included design star, Shaun Leane and journalist Hilary Alexander OBE, both of whom are Bright Young Gems judges.
We were also pleased to welcome Gemologue founder Liza Urla, Julia Flit of Gem Kreatives, jewellery influencer Katerina Perez, journalist Avril Groom, Brian Hill of the Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council, and Alison Skeates, owner of jewellery retailer EC One (pictured below).
All of this year’s KickStarters, Bright Young Gems and Editors’ Choice winners were given the chance to mingle over a glass of champagne, creating an informal atmosphere for asking questions, getting inspiration and meeting new faces.
The team at IJL were also on hand offering their words of wisdom, both during the daytime workshops and at IJL Curated. Guest speakers on the day included Ruth Faulkner, editor of Retail Jeweller magazine, Lindsey Straughton, jewellery industry promotions ambassador at the National Association of Jewellers, and retail training expert and consultant, Jo Henderson.
