The 90th annual Academy Awards highlighted stunning attire and equally stunning jewellery and watches – amounting to more than $30 million.
Here is a look-back at some of the most illustrious pieces on the red carpet:
Diamonds and white metals were the staple favourite among the stars. The other major trend on the Oscars’ red carpet was sparkling drop earrings, particularly pear shaped gems or filigree designs.
Necklaces were not as prevalent as in previous years, but those that did appear were sparkling diamond statements.
Harry Winston – Jeweller to the Stars
Harry Winston was easily the star brand at the Oscars. Nicole Kidman, actor and a presenter at the awards, wore more than 84 carats of Harry Winston diamonds, including Cluster diamond chandelier earrings, a ‘Secret Cluster’ diamond and platinum bracelet, a Tulip diamond bracelet, a round brilliant diamond Cluster ring and an oval-shaped diamond Rock band.
Similarly, Salma Hayek, wore more than $4.2 million of Harry Winston diamonds including diamond earrings in platinum and an oval diamond ring.
And let’s not forget Allison Williams who wore more than 26 carats of Harry Winston diamonds in the form of the brand’s River diamond earrings and a sparkling Cluster bracelet
Bvlgari on the Red Carpet
Several stars wore Italian jewellery brand, Bulgari. In fact, Olympic Gold Medallist, Lindsey Venn, went with vintage Bulgari and wore a necklace made of platinum, gold, rubies and diamonds. She also opted for the Italian jeweller’s pendant earrings with rubies and diamonds and a 1930s platinum and diamond bracelet.
Also donning Bulgari jewels was Ashley Judd. She opted for a stunning white gold, platinum and diamond necklace and bracelet suite from the 1930s.
Sparkling in Chopard
Spanish actress Paz Vega wore a ring from Chopard’s high jewellery collection featuring a 3.05 carat fancy intense yellow diamond and 12.74 carats of diamonds set in platinum.
Actress Eiza Gonzalez, a presenter at the 90th Annual Academy Awards, wore Chopard, including earrings with two 5.62-carat rectangular step-cut diamonds set in 18k white gold, a diamond bracelet in white gold, and a ring featuring a 3.02 carat emerald-cut diamond.
Jane Fonda also opted for Chopard including high jewellery earrings with pear-shaped diamonds, and a ring from the L’Heure Du Diamant Collection.
Luxury Watches on Display
Watches are always popular accessories at the Oscars , and the 90th edition of the Academy Awards was no exception. Here are some of the best watches seen on the Red Carpet:
Piaget
Presenter Tom Holland wore a striking Piaget Altiplano Skeleton. This ultra-thin automatic watch stands out thanks to its blackened skeleton movement.
IWC Ingenieur
British breakout star, Daniel Kaluuya wore Montblanc cufflinks and an IWC Ingenieur Chronograph watch to match his cognac-coloured suit.
IWC was a popular brand on the Oscars’ red carpet, with Richard Jenkins, nominated for his supporting role in the Best Picture-winning Shape of Water, wore the Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days.
