The Goldsmiths’ Centre in Clerkenwell, London, has launched a new programme of Creative Inspiration Workshops for its over 1,800-strong Link membership. The workshops provide unique opportunities for existing and new members to spark ideas and explore new places, objects and collections at inspiring organisations around the UK.
Creative Inspiration Workshops are suitable for anyone interested in nurturing their creativity and meeting new people within the goldsmithing and wider design community. They cost £15 to attend and have been programmed in partnership with a host of prestigious UK cultural and educational organisations:
METAL TEXTURES, 22 February 2019, 1.45pm – 4pm, £15

Be inspired by the Museum of London’s metalwork collections with curator, Hazel Forsyth; handle and draw noble and base metal historic objects, each selected to demonstrate a creative approach to texturing metal.
PATINATION METALS, 12 March 2019, 3pm – 4.30pm, £15

Handle hundreds of samples from the patination collection, developed by Richard Hughes and Michael Rowe when they wrote The Colouring, Bronzing and Patination of Metals, part of the Central Saint Martins Museum & Study Collection.
MAKING PATTERNS, Fri 12 April 2019, 2pm – 4pm, £15
Crafts Study Centre, UCA Farnham, GU9 7DS
Come and explore a specially selected group of objects incorporating and utilising patterns, from the Crafts Study Centre collection, to spark your creativity with curator Greta Bertram.
READING OBJECTS TO TRIGGER YOUR IMAGINATION, Tue 4 June 2019, 10am – 12.30pm, £15

Drawing on the Central Saint Martins Museum & Study Collection of art and design, this hands-on workshop will introduce the concept of ‘reading’ objects for creative inspiration, through close, forensic study.
