IJL Invites entries to 2018 Editors’ Choice Awards with NEW independent retail categories

The winners in six categories will be announced at IJL on the evening of Sunday, September 2.

Press Release [London, 22 June 2018]: International Jewellery London (IJL) is pleased to announce that this year’s Editors’ Choice Awards – judged by a panel of industry media stars – will include categories open to independent retailers and jewellery buyers, retailers and e-commerce specialists from IJL’s Diamond Club for the very first time.

These popular industry awards are hosted annually to spotlight the excellence, originality and creativity of the jewellery industry as it fills Olympia during IJL. Although historically only open to IJL exhibitors, this year’s awards will recognise exhibitors AND visiting retailers in six revamped categories.

Exhibitors, visiting retailers and IJL Diamond Club Members are invited to nominate themselves, or others, by the deadline of 31 July, 2018.

The winners will be chosen from a shortlist selected by a panel of industry journalists and editors. In an exciting change from previous years, the winners in all six Editors’ Choice Awards categories will be announced in front of industry peers at the IJL evening party on Sunday, 2 September.

The IJL Editor’s Choice Award Categories are:

FOR EXHIBITORS

  1. Designer to Watch: Exclusively for IJL 2018 exhibitors in the Design Gallery and Designer Brands areas, this award recognises creativity, passion and awareness of commercial appeal.
  2. Innovator 2018: This award is dedicated to recognising innovative techniques, skilled craftsmanship and unusual materials among IJL 2018 exhibitors.
  3. Overall Excellence: For leading lights, fast-growing brands and exceptional suppliers, the Overall Excellence award celebrates the IJL 2018 exhibitor dedicated to market-leading performance.

FOR RETAILERS:

  1. Digital Leader: Entries are encouraged from e-commerce giants, emerging e-commerce stores and retailers making their mark in a digital world.
  2. Retail Star: Honouring the independent retailer that has overcome obstacles to become a force to be reckoned with on the High Street.
  3. Diamond Club Member of the Year: Members of IJL’s iconic Diamond Club are welcome to enter this award, whether they are buyers, retailers or e-commerce specialists.

Ahead of being announced at IJL, a shortlist of brands and businesses in the running to win each award will be revealed to the press in August.

Katie Morris: Head of Buyer Programmes, IJL, said:

“The Editors’ Choice Awards are continually evolving, just like IJL, to ensure we showcase the best and the brightest in our trade. By including retail-specific categories for the first time, we can highlight the visiting businesses that form an integral part of the IJL community, while also spotlighting the amazing things happening in our Diamond Club. I encourage everyone to enter and nominate before the deadline.”

Winning brands and businesses of the Editors’ Choice Awards 2017 included Insignety, Les Georgettes and Nadine Aysoy, among others.
